“From Her Eyes”: On the Affordances of Video Resources in Supporting Teacher Reflection

The contribution presents data and findings from a teacher education intervention, which aimed at supporting (student) teachers’ professional vision in order to improve their (dialogic) reflective practices. In facilitate meaningful dialogue, video-recorded English lessons were used as bases of discussion. 19 participants early career teachers (with about two four years teaching experience) diverse geographical educational backgrounds. Overall, interactions amounting 349 minutes recorded. Data show interesting between describing noticing specific events on the video material, challenges suspending evaluation crucial role dialogue deepening process. Findings also affordances materials fostering vision, such means re-watching episodes several having seen same event. Although had experience, facilitators guiding towards both moments observed theory-based knowledge available participants. This raises implication for pre- in-service practice.
